Apostolos Andreas Church

About the Church

In 1883, the church of Apostolos Andreas was constructed via the voluntary labour of the community’s residents over the course of twelve (12) years.

It served as a cemetery until 1912, when it was replaced by the current structure.

The church was constructed in the Gothic style in 1890 and is renowned for its iconostasis made of carved wood.

The church’s original bell, which weighed 100 kilogrammes and had a lavish adornment and lyrical tone, was of Russian origin and could be heard 15 kilometres away.

The Temple holds celebrations on September 20 and November 30.

Agios Alexandros Church

About the Church

The modest church of Agios Alexandros was constructed in 1990 at the expense of Mrs. Galatas G. Kyriazi on land donated by Mr. Leonidas Liasidis Kotzias.

In the past, a big bush of trimithia and ropes served as a place of prayer for devout Christians. On the branches of the bushes, sick children hung various articles of clothes for the Saint to heal.
His memory is celebrated on August 30 and December 12.

About the Chapel

On the westernmost tip of the province of Limassol sits a chapel that could have easily been a component of a world-renowned art collection. Behind it all is the tale of a British artist who fell in love with the Mediterranean sun and made his home in Cyprus.

Ayios Mavrikios

Ayios Mavrikios

About the Church

The modern church of Agios Maurikios was constructed at the expense of Mr. Pericles Stasis’s family, to the east of the plain of Linidia and at the foot of the hill of Agios Maurikios, on the foundations of an older church. In 2001, the church enlarged, was maintained, and was gated at the expense of the Pissouri community. Saint Maurikios is known as the wart doctor. Taking earth from within the cathedral and turning it into mud, you apply it to your insect in the form of ointment. In a few of hours, the patient recovers and is cured. It is observed annually on September 12. The historic church of St. Maurikios has been recently preserved and is a major tourist and Christian destination in the area.
